Sri Dharmrajeshwar temple is carved out of the solid natural rock which is 50 m in length, 20 m in width and 9 m deep. It is a brilliant example of Indian rock-cut architecture. It was constructed between 4th and 5th Century CE.
Dharmrajeshwar temple is consecrated to Bhagwan Shiva and Lord Vishnu.
The main temple is surrounded by seven small shrines which are dedicated to various deities such as Lord Bhairav, Goddess Kali, Garuda and Goddess Parvati. The main temple houses a huge Shiva linga along with an idol of Lord Vishnu. The entrance gate displays the engraved images of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi.
Apart from daily puja and rituals, a grand fair is held at the temple on the occasion of Maha Shivratri.
